PSG Bursary 2027: Final-Year and Postgraduate Funding

Open Applications close on 20 December 2026 (69 days left). Checked 1 October 2026 against the funder’s own notice.

PSG Financial Services, the Bellville-based wealth, insurance and asset management group, runs a bursary for students who are close to finishing their studies. PSG pays for the final year of an undergraduate degree or for postgraduate study, then expects bursars to start their careers in a PSG graduate internship. The 2027 round is open on PSG’s recruitment portal until 20 December 2026.

A bursary for the last stretch of your degree

PSG does not fund first-year or second-year students. The advert targets consistently top-performing students who need money to complete their final undergraduate year or a postgraduate qualification in 2027. PSG asks for three things: a valid South African ID, exceptional academic achievement and proven financial need. PSG’s advert sets no fixed minimum percentage, so let your academic record make the case.

The eight qualifications PSG will fund in 2027

  • Bachelor of Science: Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Mathematical Science
  • Bachelor of Engineering: Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Bachelor of Commerce: Insurance and Risk Management, Investment Management

The list changed from the previous round. PSG’s 2026 advert included Chemical and Industrial Engineering but no BCom degrees; the 2027 advert drops those two engineering branches and adds the two commerce programmes. Older listings elsewhere may still show the 2026 fields, so rely on PSG’s current advert.

Costs PSG covers

The bursary pays registration and tuition fees, university-approved accommodation, a meal allowance, a textbook allowance and a monthly allowance. Accommodation must be university-approved, so check that your residence or private housing meets that test before you rely on the cover.

Applying on PSG’s MyFocus portal

  1. Open the PSG vacancy search on the MyFocus careers portal and search for “Bursary”, or look for reference number PSG-96800.
  2. Open “PSG Bursary Programme | 2027” and choose Register & Apply (or log in if you already have a profile).
  3. Complete every section and upload all requested documents. PSG automatically disqualifies incomplete applications.

PSG’s previous advert asked applicants to upload a CV, an academic transcript and a valid ID, so have those ready as a minimum. PSG says that if you receive no feedback within four weeks of applying, you should consider your application unsuccessful. For general queries, PSG’s head office in Tyger Waterfront answers on 021 918 7800.

After the bursary: the graduate internship

PSG frames the scheme as a route from classroom to career. Bursars are expected to join a certified PSG Graduate Internship after they complete their studies, which gives them a first job in a financial services firm. Read your bursary agreement carefully so you know exactly what PSG requires in return.
