You already have MoyaApp and you want this month’s R370 result without paying for data. The short version: Moya opens SASSA’s real SRD site inside the app, so the check works exactly as it does in a browser, just without the data cost. The steps below assume Moya is installed and registered; if it isn’t, start with the Moya setup guide.
Have these ready before you tap
- Your 13-digit South African ID number (or the permit or asylum number you applied with).
- The cellphone number you gave SASSA when you applied, with that SIM in a phone you can read SMSes on.
- A few minutes of signal, so that you can enter the one-time PIN soon after it arrives.
Running the check inside Moya
- Open Moya and go to Discover, then Services.
- Tap the SRD grant entry with the green data-free dot. SASSA’s SRD website loads inside Moya.
- Choose the option to check your application status.
- Type your ID number and the cellphone number from your application, then submit.
- SASSA sends a PIN by SMS to that number. Switch to your SMS inbox, copy the PIN, return to Moya and enter it.
- Read the outcome month by month. SASSA decides each month separately. Look for a pay day next to any month marked approved; a blank there means payment has not been processed yet.
Will Moya show something different from the website?
No. Moya adds nothing and filters nothing; it simply displays srd.sassa.gov.za. If a friend checks your details in Chrome on Wi-Fi at the same moment, the page should say the same thing. When the two seem to disagree, one of them has usually loaded an old copy of the page, so refresh and check again. Moya also has no record of your grant, so its support team cannot tell you why a month was declined.
For the meaning of each result (pending, approved, declined, bank details pending and the rest), use our R370 online status guide. The main SASSA status check page covers doing the same check in an ordinary browser.
When the trouble is Moya’s, not SASSA’s
- The page asks you to buy data, or won’t load. Update Moya from your app store over Wi-Fi. Moya says data-free browsing needs a recent version, and an old build can drop the free connection.
- The SRD entry has disappeared from Discover. Updating usually brings it back. If you installed Moya from a file someone shared, remove it and reinstall from the Play Store or AppGallery.
- The PIN never shows up in Moya. It won’t: SASSA sends it as a normal SMS, so look in your messages app.
- A link from SASSA opens a browser and uses data. Facial verification and contact-update links come by SMS and open outside Moya. Use Wi-Fi, or visit a SASSA office, where staff can help with verification.
- The SRD site itself is slow or down. That affects every channel. Try again outside the busy start and end of the month.
If Moya stops working on your network altogether, the rundown of which SASSA channels cost nothing shows what else you can use.
