Mineral Processing Guru presents itself online as MPG Group and works in the mineral processing industry. Its bursary programme targets one narrow group: undergraduate engineering students from two specific municipalities. MPG Group says the programme aims to build skills that South Africa’s mineral processing industry needs now and in future.
MPG’s page still says “coming soon”
When we checked in October 2026, the bursaries page on MPG Group’s website still announced that a programme for the 2026 academic year would launch soon, and promised that eligibility details and submission dates would follow. MPG Group has published no closing date and nothing about 2027. The same page does carry an upload form and an email address, but without dates it is unclear whether MPG Group is reviewing what students send in. Phone or email MPG before you put time into an application.
Only Emakhazeni and Lephalale residents qualify
MPG Group restricts the bursary to South African residents of Emakhazeni Local Municipality in Mpumalanga (Belfast, Machadodorp and surrounding towns) or Lephalale Local Municipality in Limpopo. The rest of MPG’s criteria are short:
- You must be studying towards an engineering qualification, in an engineering-related course.
- The bursary covers undergraduate programmes only.
- MPG accepts only certified copies of documents.
MPG Group pays bursary funds straight to the higher education institution, not to the student. Its page does not mention a living allowance, accommodation or books.
Two ways MPG takes applications
- Download MPG’s application form from the link on its bursaries page and complete it.
- Gather certified copies of the supporting documents the form lists.
- Either upload the form and documents through the submission box on MPG’s bursaries page, or email them to bursary@mpguru.co.za.
