Bulk Connections is the trading name of Durban Coal Terminal Company (Pty) Ltd, a Bidvest Freight business on Java Road in Island View, on the Bluff. The terminal moves more than 3 million tons of dry bulk a year through the Port of Durban, including manganese, chrome, coke, anthracite and sized coal, by road, rail and ship.
Nothing on the Bulk Connections site about bursaries
Older versions of this page described a Bulk Connections bursary for KwaZulu-Natal students. When we checked the company’s website in October 2026, it carried no bursary page, no application form and no closing date. Bulk Connections has not announced any bursary intake for 2027, and we could not trace the earlier advert to a Bulk Connections source, so we have removed its old requirements rather than repeat details we cannot confirm.
Be wary of bursary list sites that still show a Bulk Connections closing date or a staff member’s email address. Only send your ID and results to a channel Bulk Connections publishes itself.
The Careers page lists jobs, not study funding
The Bulk Connections careers page currently shows operational vacancies, such as supervisor and stockpile controller posts at the terminal. These suit people with work experience rather than school-leavers. Durban port and KZN funders that do advertise
KwaZulu-Natal students interested in ports, logistics and engineering have better-documented options. The Transnet bursary funds port and rail disciplines, the Dube TradePort bursary targets KZN students, and the KZN provincial government bursaries cover a wide range of fields.
