About the Thuthuka Education & Upliftment Fund (SAICA)
The Thuthuka Bursary Fund was established in 2005 by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Its mission is to transform the accountancy profession by increasing the number and success rate of Black African and Coloured students becoming CAs(SA). Eligibility Requirements for the Thuthuka Bursary Fund
Think you have got what it takes? Here is what you need to qualify for this opportunity:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must be Black African or Coloured.
- Must be in Grade 12, or have completed Matric no more than two years ago, or be a university student already studying a CA-stream accounting degree.
- Must have passed Pure Mathematics (or equivalent) in Grade 11 or Matric, with at least 60%. Maths Literacy or Technical Maths are not accepted.
- Must intend to study an accounting qualification in CA-stream at a SAICA-partner/accredited university.
- Must pass or write the National Benchmark Test (NBT).
- Must demonstrate financial need, often assessed through the NSFAS means test or equivalent.
- Must provide required supporting documents (IDs, transcripts, proof of income, acceptance letter, etc.).
