Eligibility Requirements for the Tegkor / NMU Bursary

Think you have got what it takes? Here is what you needed to qualify for the 2025 opportunity:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be studying full-time at NMU in one of the eligible accounting programmes.
  • For 1st-year students: excellent Grade 12 results, with Applicant Score (AS) of 420+ or 80%+ in Mathematics, admitted for first time into BCom Accounting or Accounting Sciences.
  • For 2nd & 3rd year students: a minimum average of 70% for first-year modules (if now in 2nd year) or 65% for 2nd-year modules (if now in 3rd year); plus evidence of participation / contribution to society or community in the year before.
  • For postgraduate students: full-time study in PGDA, PGDA-CTA, PGDA (Accounting), or PGDIA programmes; achieved 60%+ weighted average in final undergraduate year or 55%+ if currently in PGDA; preference still for the missing middle income group.
  • Financial need: preference for students in the “missing middle” — households with income between R350,000 and R600,000 per annum.
