SASSA October 2025 Payments: New Grant Amounts and Payment Dates Confirmed

Beneficiaries of SASSA social grants will see a small increase in their monthly payments starting in October. The increase, announced by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana in the 2025/26 Budget Speech, comes into effect with this new payment cycle.

New Social Grant Amounts from October 2025

SASSA confirmed that all major social grants will increase by R10. The new amounts are:

  • Old Age Grant: R2 320 (previously R2 310)
  • Old Age Grant (75 years and older): R2 340 (previously R2 330)
  • War Veterans Grant: R2 340 (previously R2 330)
  • Disability Grant: R2 320 (previously R2 310)
  • Care Dependency Grant: R2 320 (previously R2 310)

SASSA CEO Themba Matlou welcomed the adjustment, noting that it comes at a time when many households need additional support. He also confirmed that the agency is ready for the October payment cycle.

SASSA October 2025 Payment Dates

Grants will be paid on the following dates:

  • Old Age Grants: Thursday, 2 October 2025
  • Disability Grants: Friday, 3 October 2025
  • Children’s Grants: Monday, 6 October 2025

These dates apply nationwide and beneficiaries can access their grants through banks, retailers, and other official SASSA payment points.

SASSA and the Postbank Court Case

In addition to the payment increase, SASSA welcomed a recent decision from the North Gauteng High Court. The court struck off Postbank’s urgent application to prevent the termination of the Master Services Agreement (MSA).

Judge C. Collis ruled that the matter lacked urgency since Postbank had been aware of SASSA’s intention to terminate the agreement since March 2024.

SASSA confirmed that the end of the MSA will not affect grant payments. Beneficiaries with Postbank accounts will continue to receive their money without interruption.

“All eligible grant beneficiaries with accounts at Postbank will continue receiving their grants,” said CEO Themba Matlou. “Beneficiaries also have the option to open accounts at any bank of their choice, and we assist them in this process.”
