The Transport Education & Training Authority (TETA), in partnership with the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden, invites South African maritime professionals to apply for the fully-funded MSc in Maritime Affairs scholarship for the 2025–2026 academic year.

About the Bursary Provider

TETA is South Africa’s SETA for transport and logistics, focused on skills development in the sector. WMU, founded by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), is a leading postgraduate university for maritime studies aligned with UN SDGs. Together, they invest in future maritime leaders through this scholarship.

Fields Covered

The scholarship funds the MSc in Maritime Affairs program at WMU, encompassing a foundation phase, specialization studies, and an individual dissertation.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must meet all the following criteria:

  • South African citizen
  • Academically accepted into the MSc Maritime Affairs program at WMU
  • Currently employed in the maritime sector with at least 12 months at the same employer
  • Minimum 3 years of maritime experience in South Africa
  • Employer must consent to study leave and return to employment post-studies
  • Preference given to female candidates and middle managers.
