The Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) invites academically strong, financially needy South African students to apply for its 2026 bursary. Aimed at growing ICT skills, the bursary fully funds a three‑year undergraduate degree in computing, aligned with top performance standards in both academics and aptitude competitions.

IITPSA is a SAQA‑recognized professional body for ICT practitioners, committed to nurturing talent and promoting ethical professionalism in the sector. Its bursary Scheme addresses critical skills shortages in the ICT industry through financial support and talent development.

Fields Covered

The bursary supports the following full-time undergraduate programmes:

  • BSc Computer Science
  • BSc Applied Computing
  • BSc Information Systems
  • BCom Information Systems
  • BCom Informatics

Expenses Covered

The bursary covers:

  • Full tuition, registration, and exam fees
  • University-administered accommodation
  • Prescribed textbooks

It’s awarded per academic year and renewable for up to three years based on performance. Repeat subjects or modules are not covered.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be registered (or applying) for a full-time undergraduate degree in one of the eligible fields
  • Have achieved at least 65% in their most recent academic results
  • Meet the entry requirements for their chosen degree at a recognised public university
  • Undergo psychometric assessment and interview
  • Show financial need
  • Receive preference if they excel in the IITPSA Computer Programming Olympiad, especially as top-performing female candidates.

Complete your application online via the StudyTrust portal between 1 May and 30 September 2025. Upload certified documentation:

  • Clear ID photo (head & shoulders)
  • Certified South African ID copy
  • Grade 11 final results and, if in Matric, mid-year results; or Matric certificate
  • Full academic record or latest transcripts
  • Proof of household income (payslips, affidavits, or SASSA letters)
  • Additional documents if parent(s) are deceased/divorced
