Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must reside permanently within the Witzenberg Municipal area (e.g., Ceres, Tulbagh, Wolseley)
  • Aged between 18 and 35 years
  • Must have completed Matric with a minimum overall average of 60%
  • Must be studying or intend to study full-time in one of the eligible fields at an accredited FET/TVET college or university
  • Must not currently hold another bursary
  • Preference given to students from historically disadvantaged backgrounds and students with disabilities

1. Who can apply?
South African citizens aged 18–35 who are permanent residents within Witzenberg Municipality (Ceres, Tulbagh, Wolseley, etc.) and have completed Matric with ≥60%.
2. What fields are eligible?
Eligible fields include Trades, Civil Engineering, Agriculture, Health, Hospitality, Social Work, IT, Graphic Design, Networking, Entrepreneurship, and ECD.
3. What expenses are covered?
The bursary covers registration/tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, stationery, and, where needed, accommodation and transport.
4. Can I apply if I already have another bursary?
No. You must not be in possession of any other bursary to qualify.
5. How do I apply?
Complete the official form, attach certified documents (ID, Matric results, transcript, proof of residence/income, motivational letter), and submit via post/hand delivery.
6. Where do I submit my application?
Submit to the Human Resources Section, Witzenberg Municipality, Private Bag X44, Ceres, 6835, by 12:00 on 25 June 2025.
7. What proof of residence is accepted?
A certified utility bill or municipal account in your or your guardian’s name, confirming Witzenberg address.
8. Is financial need assessed?
Yes—preference is given to applicants with low household income, from historically disadvantaged backgrounds, or with disabilities.
9. How will I know if I’m successful?
Successful applicants will be contacted within 30 days of closing; if you don’t hear back, assume your application was unsuccessful.
