About the Bursary Provider

Dube TradePort is a public entity owned by the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, managing a Special Economic Zone around King Shaka International Airport. Established in 2003, it supports socio-economic development via bursaries and internships in key sectors to uplift local communities.

Fields Covered

Bursaries are available for undergraduate study (years 1–4) in the following fields:

  • Agricultural Sciences (Crops & Plants)
  • Engineering (various disciplines)
  • Information Technology
  • Built Environment (e.g., architecture, surveying)
  • Maritime Land-Based Studies
  • Other fields related to Dube TradePort operations may be considered.

Expenses Covered

The bursary may fully fund tuition, registration, textbooks, and may contribute to accommodation and living expenses—subject to annual budget and assessment of need.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following:

  • Be aged 18–35 and a South African citizen
  • Reside in KwaZulu-Natal
  • Be registered for full-time study in years 1–4 at UKZN, MUT, DUT, or UniZulu
  • Study in an eligible field
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance and financial need.
