The Rhodes Trust, established through the will of Cecil John Rhodes in 1902, is one of the oldest and most prestigious scholarship foundations in the world. Fields Covered
The Rhodes Scholarship covers most full-time postgraduate courses offered by the University of Oxford, including but not limited to:
- Humanities
- Social Sciences
- Science and Engineering
- Law
- Medical Sciences
- Business and Public Policy
Expenses Covered
The Rhodes Scholarship will cover:
- Oxford University course fees
- Annual stipend (£19,800 for the 2024/25 year)
- Student visa and International Health Surcharge (IHS)
- Two economy flights (to and from Oxford)
- Settling-in allowance upon arrival
- Visa renewal and IHS for students continuing to a second course
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident
- Must have completed or be completing an undergraduate degree with strong academic results
- Must be between the ages of 19 and 25 (some exceptions apply)
- Must demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to service
- Must meet Oxford University entry requirements for their chosen course
