The Motsepe Foundation invites academically high-achieving and financially needy Grade 12 learners and recent Matriculants to apply for its 2026 undergraduate bursary, supporting STEM studies at public universities across South Africa. Successful applicants receive full funding—including tuition, accommodation, meals, and study materials—and mentorship.
About the Bursary Provider
The Motsepe Foundation, founded by Patrice and Precious Motsepe and signatories to The Giving Pledge, focuses on uplifting poor, unemployed, and marginalised South Africans. Through bursaries and developmental initiatives, the Foundation supports youth education and empowerment.
Fields Covered
The bursary supports full-time undergraduate studies exclusively in STEM disciplines:

Expenses Covered
The bursary package includes:
- Full tuition and registration fees
- Accommodation and meal allowances
- Prescribed textbooks and study materials
- Monthly living stipend
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens in Grade 12 or recent Matriculants
- Achieve a minimum average of 70% in core subjects
- Intend to study a STEM undergraduate degree at a recognized South African university
- Demonstrate financial need
- Reside in qualifying districts across selected provinces (e.g., Eastern Cape, Gauteng, KZN, etc.)
- Preference for 2025 Matric learners

Applications must be submitted online via the Motsepe Foundation portal by 6 June 2025:
- Phase 1: Online form including ID, contact details, academic results
- Phase 2 (shortlisted only): Certified copies of ID, Matric mid-year or certificate, academic record, proof of household income (payslips, affidavits, SASSA letters)
