About the Bursary Provider

Kangnas Wind Farm, a 140 MW facility in Nama Khoi, Northern Cape, is operated by Mainstream Renewable Power and owned by Lekela Wind’s community trust. As part of its socio-economic development obligations, the farm offers bursaries to uplift local youth.

Fields Covered

Bursaries are available for full-time study in any field at accredited institutions—including public universities, universities of technology, and public TVET colleges.

Expenses Covered

The bursary may cover:

  • Tuition, registration and exam fees
  • Accommodation (campus residence or equivalent)
  • Meals
  • Learning materials (textbooks, stationery, etc.)

Funding is determined individually and subject to annual budget capacity.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Reside in the Namakwa District Municipality area (~50 km radius of Kangnas Wind Farm)
  • Be studying or intending to study full-time in a recognised SA tertiary institution (public or accredited private)
  • Be in Matric or tertiary at the time of applying
  • Have a household gross income ≤ R350 000 per annum
  • Demonstrate academic excellence via Matric or tertiary results

Apply online via the official application portal between 1 May and 30 September 2025. During application, indicate “www.bursaryforms.co.za” when asked how you heard about the bursary.

  • Grade 11 and most recent Matric results (if still in Matric)
