The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is a national nonprofit focused on developing future entrepreneurs. Through its high school scholarship, the Foundation partners with top schools and provides holistic support—academic, mentorship, and leadership—to cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets in promising young South Africans.

Fields Covered

This scholarship supports full-time Grade 8–12 studies at partner high schools, across academic, sports, arts, and extra-mural programs—but with an emphasis on entrepreneurship development.

Expenses Covered

The scholarship includes:

  • Full tuition and boarding fees
  • Stationery, textbooks, uniforms, toiletries, and casual clothing
  • Monthly allowance and support for extra-mural activities

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following:

  • Be a South African citizen (at least one parent a citizen)
  • Currently in Grade 6 and turning 11–12 years old (born 2013–2014)
  • Household income of ≤ R20 000 per month
  • Achieved ≥ 70% in English and Mathematics, and overall average ≥ 70% in Grade 5 & 6
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial traits: growth mindset, leadership, problem-solving, curiosity, opportunity-spotting, self-efficacy
