1. What is the Jones & Wagener Bursary?+
The Jones & Wagener Bursary is a funding programme for South Africans studying or intending to study in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geochemistry or Environmental Fields. It supports tuition, possibly accommodation, textbooks, vacation work and a work-back obligation.
2. Who is eligible to apply?+
Applicants must be South African citizens, in Matric or completed Matric, accepted/enrolled in a qualified degree at a recognised South African university, with at least 75% in Maths & Physical Science, financial need, and meet BEE preferences.
3. Which fields of study are supported?+
Supported fields include Civil Engineering, Geology, Geochemistry and Environmental Science / Studies.

Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 75% in both Mathematics and Physical Sciences in Matric; if still in Matric use Grade 11 final results.
5. What does the bursary cover?+
At minimum, tuition fees. It may also cover accommodation and a limited textbooks allowance.
6. Is there any work experience included?+
Yes. Recipients are required to complete six weeks of paid vacation work in Rivonia or Centurion during July or December recess.
7. Do I have to work for Jones & Wagener after my studies?+
Yes. There is a service contract: after completing studies, you must work for Jones & Wagener for a period equal to the duration of the bursary.
8. When is the deadline?+
The closing date for the 2026 academic year was 31 July 2025. Applications submitted after are not accepted.
9. What documents must I include?+
You need: certified ID copy, Matric or latest results (and Grade 11 if applicable), full CV, recent colour photograph, proof of university registration (if applicable), financial need documentation.
