The Old Mutual Investment Group invites academically excellent, financially needy Black South African students—especially women and those from rural or township backgrounds—to apply for its 2026 Imfundo Trust Scholarship, supporting full-time undergraduate (and select postgraduate) studies in high-demand fields.

About the Bursary Provider

The Imfundo Trust, created by Old Mutual Investment Group in 2011, promotes black representation in investment, finance, tech, and engineering sectors. The Trust partners with StudyTrust to award merit‑based scholarships to students committed to transforming South Africa’s future.

Fields Covered

The scholarship supports full-time study in:

  • Business, Commerce, Finance & Management Sciences
  • Computer Science & related fields (e.g., Computational Thinking)
  • Data Science
  • Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical)
  • Postgraduate Climate Studies only

Expenses Covered

The bursary is comprehensive, covering:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation and meals
  • Textbooks, stationery, and study materials
  • Monthly living stipend
  • Mentorship, ICAS support, vacation work opportunities, and financial oversight for dual bursary recipients.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be Black (African, Coloured, or Indian)
  • Be entering 1st or 2nd year undergraduate in 2026 (except Climate Studies postgraduate)
  • Matric applicants require ≥ 70% average, with ≥70% in Maths and English FAL (or ≥60% English HL) in mid‑year exams
  • Current university students require ≥ 65% average in most recent exams
  • Be accepted into or registered for full-time study in an eligible field at a SA public university
  • Demonstrate financial need; rural/township applicants given preference
  • Not already be in receipt of another bursary or scholarship.

How to Apply

Apply online via the StudyTrust portal between 1 May and 30 September 2025. Upload certified documents:

  • Head-and-shoulders photograph
  • Certified SA ID copy
  • Grade 11 & Matric mid-year results or full Matric certificate
  • Full tertiary academic record (if applicable)
  • Proof of household income (payslips, affidavits, etc.)
  • Death certificates and divorce affidavits if applicable

30 September 2025. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.
