UL Prospectus 2027: University of Limpopo Entry Grids and APS

Applications to the University of Limpopo for 2027 have closed. UL opened its online applications on 1 April 2026; MBChB (Medicine) and international applicants had to apply by 30 July 2026, and every other undergraduate qualification closed on 30 September 2026. The prospectus is still worth reading now: it shows whether your final matric results will meet the programme you applied for, and it is the document to plan with if you are aiming at the next cycle.

UL’s prospectus is a two-sided poster, published as the University of Limpopo Undergraduate Prospectus 2027 PDF. One side covers general admission rules, the APS table, extended programmes and selection tests; the other sets out colour-coded requirement grids for the four faculties: Humanities, Management and Law, Science and Agriculture, and Health Sciences. The university’s undergraduate page lists it beside the 2026 fees booklet and residence fees.

Six subjects, no Life Orientation

UL adds up the NSC achievement levels of six recognised 20-credit subjects, so a 7 (80–100%) earns 7 points and a 4 (50–59%) earns 4. Life Orientation is left out of the total, but you still need at least level 3 in Life Orientation and level 3 in English to enter any undergraduate programme. Degrees also need four 20-credit subjects at level 4 or higher; diplomas accept level 3. Most grids list the required subjects first and then say “additional subjects to contribute to minimum APS total”, meaning your other subjects make up the rest of the score.

Health Sciences grids from the poster

Medicine and the health care sciences draw the most applications at UL. In each case the two extra subjects must reach level 4.

  • MBChB (six years): APS 27; English at 4; Mathematics, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences each at 5.
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy: APS 27; English at 4, with the three science subjects (Maths, Physical and Life Sciences) at 5.
  • Bachelor of Optometry: APS 27, with the same subject levels as Pharmacy.
  • Bachelor of Nursing: APS 26; English and Mathematics at level 4; Physical Sciences and Life Sciences at level 5.
  • BSc in Dietetics and BSc in Medical Sciences: APS 26 each; English and Mathematics at level 4; Physical Sciences and Life Sciences at level 5.

Law and accounting at UL

  • LLB: APS 30 with English level 5; UL accepts level 4 if English is your home language. The extended LLB takes five years and asks for APS 26, also with English level 5.
  • Bachelor of Accountancy (BAcc): APS 30, with English and Mathematics at level 4.
  • BCom in Accountancy: APS 28 for the three-year degree, or 26 for the extended version, with English and Mathematics at level 4.
  • BCom in Business Management or Human Resource Management: APS 26; English level 4; Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy level 3. The extended versions drop to APS 22.

Selection tests and the extra-year option

For three programmes, passing a selection test is part of admission on top of the APS: the Bachelor of Social Work, the BEd in Foundation Phase Teaching and the Bachelor of Psychology. UL’s extended curriculum programmes, available in commerce, law, the BSc streams and the BA in Media Studies, follow the same degree but add a year, and their APS is usually lower. The Reakgona Disability Centre on campus supports blind, partially sighted and physically disabled students with Braille production, low-vision reading and adapted computers.

The R200 handling fee for South African applicants (R750 for international applicants) is non-refundable. For questions, the prospectus lists the Enrolment Management call centre on 015 268 3332 and enrolment@ul.ac.za. Our University of Limpopo application guide explains the iEnabler steps, and the university closing dates list shows which institutions are still accepting 2027 applications. Other universities’ 2027 documents are gathered on our prospectus hub.
