Most universities turn your marks into a 1-to-7 score per subject. CPUT works with the raw percentages instead, and that one difference shapes how you read every requirement in its Prospectus 2027. The 15-page booklet, marked “Edition 2/2026”, appears as a flipbook on the CPUT Apply to Study page (step 1). CPUT offers no separate PDF download of it.
Every 2027 deadline has passed. Applications opened on Monday, 11 May 2026 and were free and online only. South African applicants had until 30 September 2026 for most programmes, international applicants until 31 August 2026, and several health and education courses closed much earlier (see below). CPUT publishes no late-application window.
Three ways CPUT calculates your APS
Page 3 of the prospectus explains the maths. Life Orientation is left out of every method, and each faculty tells you which method its programmes use.
- Method 1: add the percentages of your six best subjects (including the required ones) and divide by 10. A total of 304 becomes an APS of 30.4.
- Method 2: English, plus Mathematics and Physical Sciences counted twice each, plus your next best subject, divided by 10. Engineering uses this one.
- Method 3: Mathematics and Accounting counted twice each, plus English and your next best subjects, divided by 10. Accountancy uses this one, which explains its high-looking APS of 38.
Because of the doubling, an APS of 30 under Method 2 and an APS of 30 under Method 1 are not comparable. Work out your own score with the method your course names before you decide whether you qualify. A few programmes add steps: Nursing holds an online interview, Emergency Medical Care adds an interview with medical and physical assessments, medical imaging courses use an online health screening questionnaire, and Informatics and Design may ask for a portfolio or entrance exam.
Entry levels printed in the 2027 booklet

- Bachelor of Engineering Technology programmes (p. 15): APS 36 under Method 2, with English, Mathematics and Physical Sciences at 5.
- Diploma in Accountancy (p. 9, Method 3): APS 38; English 4 plus Mathematics 3, Mathematical Literacy 5 or Accounting 4. The extended diploma asks APS 35.
- IT diplomas in Applications Development, Communication Networks and Multimedia Applications (p. 13): APS 28 with Mathematics or 30 with Mathematical Literacy; English 4 and Mathematics 3, Mathematical Literacy 5 or Technical Mathematics 4.

One course is missing for 2027. The Bachelor of Health Sciences in Dental Technology and its extended version take no new students, because of unresolved issues with the South African Dental Technology Council. The Higher Certificate in Dental Assisting still runs, with APS 25.
Campuses, residence and fees
CPUT spreads its six faculties over Bellville, District Six, Granger Bay, Mowbray and Wellington. Teacher education runs at Mowbray, taught in English, and at Wellington, taught in Afrikaans. Residence is a separate online application made after the academic one. The fees page still shows the 2026 schedule, as no 2027 fee booklet has appeared. For general questions, CPUT lists 021 959 6767 and info@cput.ac.za on the prospectus cover.
