This page started life as the October 2025 grant calendar. That cycle finished a year ago, so it now serves two readers: someone checking when an October 2025 payment should have arrived, and someone who landed here looking for this October’s dates. Both answers are below, clearly separated.
October 2025: when each group was paid
SASSA confirmed the dates in a statement on 26 September 2025:
- Older persons grant: Thursday 2 October 2025
- Disability grant: Friday 3 October 2025
- Children’s grants: Monday 6 October 2025
War veterans and grant-in-aid payments went out with the older persons and disability groups. The SRD R370 grant was not on this calendar; it is paid per person after each monthly assessment.
What stood out about that cycle
- A Monday pay day. SASSA normally avoids Mondays, but with the 2nd on a Thursday the three-day cycle ran over the weekend, so children’s grants landed on Monday 6 October.
- A small increase. Several grants went up by R10 from October 2025. The October 2025 amounts page lists who got what.
- Reviews. Since mid-2025 SASSA had been paying people selected for a grant review on a separate fourth day, after the normal three.
- Biometrics. October 2025 was the second month in which SASSA offices required fingerprint or facial enrolment for new applications, a rule in force since 1 September 2025.

October 2026 in the current schedule
For the 2026/27 year the October cycle starts on a Friday rather than a Thursday, and two of the three days fall after the weekend:
- Older persons: Friday 2 October 2026
- Disability: Monday 5 October 2026
- Children’s grants: Tuesday 6 October 2026
Two things differ from a year earlier. The amounts are higher, because the 2026/27 increases took effect in April 2026; the only October 2026 change is the foster child grant moving to R1,300. And the gold card no longer works: anyone who missed the 31 August 2026 deadline to switch to a Postbank black card still has the grant deposited but cannot reach it until they get the new card. SASSA has not officially announced an October 2026 date for people under review. The remaining months of this year are on the 2026/27 payment schedule.
